His Eminence Sayyed Riyad Al-Hakeem and the accompanying delegation participated in The Interfaith Dialogue Seminar held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, which was attended by Personalities and representatives of various religions (Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and various sects).
Al-Hakeem’s speech was the seminar’s keynote speech, and included the following topics :
1_ Interfaith Dialogue Catalysts.
2_ Interfaith Common principles.
3. General challenges.
4_ Proposed areas and programs.
The participants received his speech with interest and satisfaction. and it was agreed to continue efforts and meetings.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between Al-Kalima Center for Dialogue and Cooperation and the Royal Institute for Interfaith Dialogue.
Wich included joint activities and, and was signed by The Al-Kalima Center’s official in Thailand Dr. Shareef Hadi.
On the sidelines of the seminar, His Eminence Sayyed Riyad al-Hakeem held bilateral meetings with Thailand’s Muslim leader Sheikh Aziz Betakun Boon and Buddhist monk Kiti Weryaban, a prominent Buddhist figure in Thailand. The importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperation was emphasized in these meetings, pointing out that this does not mean relinquishing religious beliefs, and reminding of the teachings of Islam and its innocence of terrorism and extremism, and the decisive attitude of the high rank scolars (Marjaiyah), and the Iraqi people in confronting terrorism.
Both parties expressed their desire to visit Iraq and participate in interfaith conferences and seminars.
